A BIODYNAMIC FARM
Majvik is a biodynamic farm near Helsinki. Things happen in sync with natures rhytms. In the summer Majvik is packed with people, schools send their trainees to learn organic farming, some additional workforce might also roam the fields. And ofcourse all the guests just happend to arrive when it's lunchtime..
In the autumn the trainees usually go back to school, just when it's time for harvest. Things get done anyway with help from the usually arranged work parties. In the wintertime it's more quiet. Schools, kindergardens and food circles keep the residents occupied by ordering the stored foods. Just when it seems that all the cellars are starting to empty, the spring breaks and the cycle is ready to start again.
The farm spreads to 60 hectares of land in Sipoo, right next to Helsinki's border in the east. Fields cover 20 ha and the forest 30 ha. The rest of the area covers the buildings, yards and gardens. In the fields grow the potates, vegetables and grains. Few cows are around and chickens lay happy organic eggs, which can be sometimes found in Majvik's very own store.
